In continuation of yesterdays blog here is the summary of my Brasso efforts last night.
Firstly I was lucky to find some at my local Tesco but all there didnt go without a hitch. The bottles have changed somewhat over the years and to me it looked like a spray can. In my efforts to get the lid off it to check I managed to spill half the bottle on the floor in the aisle. As it is a busy Tesco store my moment was witnessed by all and sundry. Once the aisle had cleared somewhat, as I stood there looking silly with Brasso up my dark pants and shoes, I took a new bottle off the shelf (yes it is criminal but you would have too!) and queued up. People were looking a little sideways at me as I had a rather strong chemical/petrol smell but hey it was worth it!
So once at home I shed my 4G 40GB iPod from its iSkin. I discovered there were some rather nasty marks on the back from the iSkin case rubbing and realised I had my work cut out for me.
I applied a light coating, waited for it to nearly dry and then set about rubbing. The constitution of Brasso is not as nearly as thick as I remembered so first comment would be I did'nt expect fantastic results.
I applied a coating and rubbed for 3 minutes, then applied again, and again, and again. I eventually started buffing with the wet part of the cloth rather than apply it and buff with a dry cloth. The reason for this is that it meant for a deeper cutting effect.
The results were....well....after 40 minuites of this and sore hands...a little less than what I had hoped. My experience with iCleaner had won out on such an old scratched pod. So my summary is as follows:
1: For really tough scratches and deep marks use iCleaner. But dont expect a high sheen finish. It will glow again but something like Brasso will finish it off well.
2: For lighter scratches and a bit of a touch up Brasso works great and I rate it highly. And remember Brasso is great for other stuff as well. Even your iBook.
