Mobilicity first Canadian carrier to offer BlackBerry 6 upgrade

Rising new entrant delivers BlackBerry 6 operating system
for BlackBerry smartphone lineup

Toronto, ON – January 12, 2011 – Hot on the heels of launching Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry® Bold9780 smartphone, Mobilicity today released BlackBerry® 6 operating system (OS6) upgrades for its existing BlackBerry customers.

As Canada’s first carrier to offer the BlackBerry operating system upgrade, Mobilicity has reaffirmed its leadership position, delivering a quality wireless experience – featuring the latest contract-free handsets and smartphones on its state-of-the-art 3.5G network – without billing customers outrageous extra fees and surprise charges like Canada’s incumbent carriers.

Mobilicity customers using the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the BlackBerry®Curve™3G smartphones can now benefit from a wide range of significant BlackBerry 6 enhancements, including a rich new user interface, a fast and powerful WebKit-based browser and an incredibly useful Universal Search feature.

Users will also enjoy expanded messaging capabilities with intuitive features to simplify the management of social networking and RSS feeds (Social Feeds), and integrated access to BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger), Facebook®, Twitter™, MySpace™ and various instant messaging applications.

Other user-friendly updates include the ability to:
-       simultaneously open multiple web pages using tabbed browsing;
-       group email messages by subject;
-       scroll and view songs while playing music;
-       simultaneously select multiple photos; and
-       sort photos by date.
