New Google Friends Service - Friend Connect

Google have launched a new service that allows you to include social networking features on your website even if your website doesn't support social networking features. The link I was given today returned a 404 error which is hilarious for a Google service. But I'm sure the service will be launched with full fanfare in the coming days, weeks and months.

I expect this will mean a flood of widgets on website all around the world. Users of WordPress, Drupal and other content management systems will possibly not benefit from these widgets. Users of blogger however will no doubt get these services integrated more so than now. If you have a static website this will be the functionality but I'm sure this will mean you're tying your colours to Google.
