I just don't understand why when I need things to work they break. Expletives don't describe today well enough.
The checklist of moving a website from one server to another should be copy database, copy files -> upload files, upload database, move NS, check email accounts and your done.
Yet today it has been copy database, copy files except that server went down as I was trying to get a copy of the DB. Then when I did get it down a long time later the server kept timing out on the file downloads. Once those were down the upload time to the new server went slower than a Turtle on wet cement. On trying to terminal the database my ssh account was inactive so I had to do it through browser. Finally when most of the files and DB were uploaded, 6 hours later (it was a 120MB DB) I thought I could see the end. A few local VPS issues were nothing after the effort to get this far. Finally I was ready to switch the NS to the new server only to discover 123-reg was down.
Just typing this makes me want to type words in foreign and unknown languages.
